Contest and Social Media Promotion
To alert fans of The Blacklist about the show’s move from Monday to Thursday nights, NBC offered two promotions. Prior to the season premiere, a Raymond Reddington decoy was placed in select venues over 4 days in 25 U.S. cities; clues to his location and a secret catchphrase required to win were tweeted by the show’s official account (@NBCBlacklist). The first three people to find Reddington and repeat the catchphrase in each location won a cash prize. Additionally, fans were directed to a website where a question would be posted during the second half of the show; fans were encouraged to come back to the website and answer the question for the chance to win $25,000.
