Focal Point Awareness (Responsive Cropping & Composition)

When images are displayed on different screen sizes and aspect ratios, they often get cropped or resized. Without considering the focal point — the most important part of the image — you risk cutting off essential content like product details, faces, or branding.

What Is a Focal Point?

The focal point is the visual center of interest — the subject that should always remain visible, regardless of cropping or resizing.

Best Practices for Focal Point Awareness

1.  Center Important Content When possible, place the subject in or near the center of the frame. This ensures it remains visible even in square or vertical crops (e.g., on mobile).

Focal point OK

2. Safe ZonesDesignate “safe zones” within your photo:

  • Center 60–70% of the frame = guaranteed visible on all breakpoints (screen sizes)
  • Avoid placing crucial details on outer edges — they may be cut off on narrow viewports

Delivery Method

  • Use platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer
  • Ensure:
    • No compression by the delivery platfor
